Basics About Wedding Centerpieces
Okay, so no doubt wedding centerpieces are one of the many hundreds of small details that will make your wedding unique. Here are some basics to help get you started when picking out your centerpieces.
- How many will you need? Typically, there is only one centerpiece per table at the reception. So how many tables do you have?
- Do you want the same centerpiece at every table? Maybe you want to mix up the color and size of the centerpieces to add variety. Or maybe you want special tables to have special centerpieces (ie for immediate family or the wedding party)
- What is the theme of wedding? Are flowers appropriate? Are your other decorations modern or traditional? What color do you want to be the highlight of your reception?
- What is the venue? Obviously, if your centerpieces are going to be outside you may not want to have tall, skinny candles on your tables.
- What is your budget?
The answers to these questions will serve as a starting point for picking out your centerpieces. Now that you have your guideline, you can start narrowing down the specifics. You will need to decide things like how big the centerpiece will be.
Remember that if the main purpose of the table is to sit down and eat a meal, you will not want to have a centerpiece that is too large and distracting. You want your wedding guests to be able to talk to each other and have a good time, which will be difficult if the cannot even see each other across the table. However, if there will just be a few tables around the edge of the room that are there mostly to hold drinks, you can get away with larger centerpieces.
After the wedding, the bride’s friends and families are usually left to clean everything up. While the bride and groom are rushed off to enjoy their romantic wedding night, others must help clean up after the reception. Many times, the centerpieces will be taken home by friends and family of the bride as mementos of the wedding. So, if possible, it would be nice to pick a centerpiece that your friends and family may be able to use the in the future (pretty vase, nice candles etc).
So we all know that wedding centerpieces are very important to the décor of the wedding reception. With a little research and effort, you can design the perfect centerpiece that will be an amazing detail for your wedding.
